- In August 1895, The Cincinnati Enquirer published an article about Grover Cleveland’s summer White House Gray Gables in Massachusetts and the servants who worked for the Cleveland family on site. The article mentioned Edward Murray, the family butler, “who acts as a hall boy or table waiter, or general messenger about the place.”1 It is unclear if Murray also worked in this capacity at the White House, as further information about his life and career is limited.
