Very limited information is currently known about Christine Nielson’s life.1
The only known reference to her White House employment comes from a newspaper article in The Oregonian in September 1919. The article described President Woodrow Wilson and First Lady Edith Wilson’s visit to Portland, Oregon. Nielsen is described in the article as Mrs. Wilson’s lady’s maid. It notes that she spent the day shopping in Portland stores and that she had recently traveled to France with the first lady for peace talks following World War I.2- There are many individuals with the name Christine Nielson, making it very difficult to determine the correct person.
