- Information about John Ganer’s life outside of the President’s House remains unknown. John Ganer worked for George Washington at the President’s House in Philadelphia. He first appeared in household account records in December 1796, earning $14.00 for a month of work, though the type of work he performed is not specified. He continued to work for Washington until the end of his presidency in March 1797. His role in the household remains unknown.1
