Francis Xavier Mohun Sr. was born in Washington, D.C. on December 25, 1899.1 Mohun worked as a chauffeur for the U.S. Post Office. As early as 1927, he was placed on detail at the White House; that year, he was mentioned working alongside other White House chauffeurs in a newspaper report on famed aviator Charles Lindbergh’s visit to Washington, D.C.2 Mohun continued to work as a chauffeur in the White House Garage during the Herbert Hoover years, and during the Franklin Roosevelt administration, he was chauffeur to President Roosevelt’s Secretary Marvin H. McIntyre.3
It is unclear when Mohun left service at the White House; the 1950 Census lists him as an automobile dispatcher for the Post Office, but he may still have been on detail at the White House Garage.4 He died on October 16, 1959, and was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Washington, D.C.5
