- Albert Ross Edmonston Sr. was born in Rockville, Maryland on July 8, 1878. (1) Edmonston worked as a painter in Washington, D.C., and around 1928, he joined the White House staff in that role. (2) He eventually became foreman painter, overseeing the paint shop and its staff. (3) Edmonston retired from the White House in August 1948. He passed away on November 15, 1948, and was buried at Rockville Cemetery in Maryland. (4)
