- Washington Clay Glascock was born on April 13, 1905, in Herndon, Virginia. (1) Glascock worked for the Office of Public Buildings and Parks, and from at least 1929 to 1932, he was assigned at the White House. There, he worked under Head Gardener Charles Henlock. (2) A 1932 staff Christmas list specifically includes Glascock among “those who work at the White House on social functions,” suggesting that he likely worked with the flowers and plants used for events there. (3) He may have been assigned to the White House beyond the Hoover era, but details are unknown. Glascock continued to work for National Capital Parks through at least 1950. (4) He passed away on January 25, 1960, and was buried at Flint Hill Cemetery in Fairfax County, Virginia. (5)
