- A man named Thomas O’Neill worked for the Office of Public Buildings and Parks in the late 1920s, and in 1929, he was assigned to the White House. He may have worked there prior to or after 1929, but there is limited information about O’Neill. (1) According to First Lady Lou Hoover’s annual staff list, he worked under the supervision of Head Gardener Charles Henlock. O’Neillmay have worked on the gardens and grounds or in the White House greenhouses near the Bureau of Engraving and Printing on the National Mall, but further information about his life and career is scarce.
