- In 1929, a man named Joseph Stump appeared on First Lady Lou Hoover’s annual staff Christmas list. He was listed among employees under the supervision of Head Gardener Charles Henlock, which suggests that he worked either with the White House gardens and grounds or at the White House greenhouses near the Bureau of Engraving and Printing on the National Mall.
