- In 1929, a man named Andrew Thurston was included on Lou Hoover’s annual staff Christmas list among horticulture employees supervised by Head Gardener Charles Henlock. (1) City directories from the period suggest he was a laborer with the Office of Public Buildings and Parks, but further information about his life, career, and tenure at the White House is limited.
