Biography
In 1929, an individual named Thomas W. Coffman was included on Lou Hoover’s annual staff Christmas list among horticulture employees supervised by Head Gardener Charles Henlock. (1) He may have worked on the White House Grounds or at the White House greenhouses near the Bureau of Engraving and Printing on the National Mall. City directories from the period tell us that he was employed by the Office of Public Buildings and Parks, but further information about his life and career is limited. (2)
