Biography
In 1931, an individual named “W. D. Stone” was included on First Lady Lou Hoover’s annual White House staff Christmas list. The list identified Stone as a “Horticultural” employee “engaged in White House work,” which suggests that they labored on the White House Grounds or in the White House greenhouses near the Bureau of Engraving and Printing on the National Mall.
