- From 1929 to 1931, James Pierro was assigned to the White House from the Office of Public Buildings and Parks. (1) According to staff lists, he worked as a yardman, or laborer on the grounds. In 1932, a man named Vincent Pierro was listed in the same role on the annual staff list. James lived with Vincenzo (Vincent) Pierro who worked as gardener for the U.S. government around this time; they were likely related. He first appeared on White House staff lists in 1932 and continued to work there through at least 1937. (3) Meanwhile, further information about James Pierro is scarce.
